OBJECTIVE:To investigate the expression level of Dicer and Drosha in osteosarcoma and osteochondroma.MATERIALS AND METHODS:The expression levels of Dicer and Drosha were evaluated by immunohistochemistry assay in paraffin-embedded tissues from 40 cases of osteosarcoma and 40 cases of osteochondroma. The correlation between the expression levels of Dicer,Drosha and its clinicopathologic features was also analyzed accordingly. The results were analyzed with SPSS 14.0 statistical software.α=0.05 was regarded as the statistical criterion.RESUITS:The expression rate of Dicer in osteosarcoma was 35% (14/40) in contrast with 7.5%(3/40) in osteochondroma. The differentiation had statistical significance(P<0.05).The expression level of Dicer was not related to age,sex,tumor cell differentiation,pathologic classification (high,medium,low) and Enneking(Ⅰ~ⅡA,ⅡB~Ⅲ)(P >0.05).The expression rate of Drosha in osteosarcoma was 35%(14/40) in contrast with 7.5%(3/40) in osteochondroma. The expression level of Dicer was high in osteosarcoma in contrast with that in osteochondroma, and that was low in the osteochondroma.The expression level of Dicer in osteosarcoma was not related to age,sex,tumor cell differentiation,pathologic classification and Enneking.2. The expression level of Drosha was high in osteosarcoma in contrast with that in osteochondroma, and that was low in the osteochondroma.The expression level of Drosha in osteosarcoma was not related to age,sex,tumor cell differentiation,pathologic classification and Enneking.3. The expression levels of Dicer and Drosha were highly related to the development of osteosarcoma and osteochondroma, which suggested that miRNA played an important role in osteosarcoma and osteochondroma.4. The expression levels of Dicer were both positively related to that of Drosha in osteosarcoma and in osteochondroma, which suggested that they may function in the same control channel.
