Objective:To explore the application of surgical methods to intracranial lesion and the effectiveness of neuroendoscope on it.Methods:498 cases of intracranial lesion were treated by neuroendoscope. Different surgical methods were selected according to the original lesion. These included operation of hydrencephalus, intracranial cystic lesion, ependymitis tumor. and the application of endoscope-assisted microsurgery. Results:After surgical operation, the symptoms of 271 cases of hydrocephalus were improved clinically. The high intracranial pressure of 52 cases'arachnoid cysts was also relieved,37 cases'arachnoid cysts were found smaller in size, and 15 cases'lesion didn't show any change. The size of septum cysts was decreased in 9 cases, and 6 cases of them appeared symptomatically improved and 3 cases'still had symptoms. The symptoms of 72 cases'pituitary adenomas were relieved postoperatively, and endocrine symptoms were also relieved in 51 cases. In one case, the pituitary adenomas showed recurrence tendency. As for the 15 cases of intraventricular tumors treated, all the clinic symptoms were relieved, endoscope-assisted microsurgery were applied in 56 operation with valuable information gotten in 56 cases to improve the safety and the total resection rate. Conclusion It is important to select the suitable cases when using neuroendoscope. The best application of neuroendoscope is the management of non-communicating hydrocephalus, pituitary adenoma, refractoriness ependymitis and cystic lesions. Deep lesions should benefit the microsurgery and it is difficult to treat solid tumors by neuroendoscope alone.
