Objective:To explore the expression of MTA1 and nm23-H1 protein and its relationship with invasive and metastasis of breast cancer.Methods:60 cases definitely diagnosed as breast cancer (including 31 cases with axillary lymphatic metastasis and 29 cases without axillary lymphatic metastasis), and 20 cases of normal breast tissue were seleeted for normal controls. Immunohistochemistry technique SP method was used to detect the expression of MTA1 and nm23-H1 protein in 60 cases of breast cancer and 20 cases of normal breast tissue.Analyzed their correlation with the parameters such as clinical stage, pathologic type, lymphnode matastasis et al, and studied their correlation with each other and its relationship with invasive and metastasis of breast cancer. Results:The positive expressions rates of MTA1 in the breast cancer were higher than that in the normal breast tissue (P< 0.05); The positive expressions rates of nm23-H1 in the breast cancer were lower than that in normal breast tissue (P< 0.05); The over expression of MTA1 and the low expression of nm23—H1 were significantly related with pathologic type, clinical stage and lymph node metastasis (P<0.0 5). There was a negative correlations were between the expressions of MTA1 and nm23-H1 in the breast cancer (P< 0.05)。Conclusion:The expression of MTA1 and nm23-H1 is related with the invasive and metastasis of breast cancer, They may play the positive and negative roles during the process of prognostic judgement of the invasive and metastasis in breast cancer. The unite detection of MTA1 and nm23-H1 expression would contribute to the early diagnosis and prognostic assessment of the breast cancer. MTA 1 and nm23—H1 may be useful markers for evaluation of tumor malignancy judgment of recurence, metastasis, the early diagnosis and prognostic assessment in patients with breast cancer.
