Objective: To observe the antidiabetic effects and the mechanisms of gastric bypass(GBP) in rats of Type II Diabetes - Goto-Kakizaki rats.Methods:20 male rats randomly underwent operation group and sham operation group, each group had 10 rats. Body weight, fasting plasma glucose, blood lipid, plasma insuline level and resistin were measured before and after operate. Results: No difference was found in body weight between operation group and sham operation group in the same week. The fasting plasma glucose, blood lipid, plasma insuline, plasma resistin and insulin resistance index of the operation group were significantly lower than the sham operation group's. The fasting plasma glucose, blood lipid, plasma insuline, plasma resistin and insulin resistance index of the operation group in postoperation were lower than preoperation. The fasting plasma glucose, blood lipid, plasma insuline, plasma resistin and insulin resistance index of the sham group in postoperation were higher than preoperation. Conclusions: GBP can significantly improve glycometabolism in rats of type II diabetes. GBP can decrease the blood lipid in rats of type II diabetes. GBP can decrease the plasma resistin in rats of type II diabetes. The decrease of blood lipid and plasma resistin may be one of mechanisms of type II Diabetes cured by surgery.
