Background The incidence of simple obesity children has increased considerably in the last few years.Simply obesity children has became the serious nutrition problem of children in china, which damages the health of children extremely. It is the single dangerous factor, which can lead to hypertension, atherosclerosis and coronary disease. The cardiovascular dangerous factors which obesity leads to are closely correlated with the dysfunction of vascular endothelium. We use the extra-blood to determine the marker of endothelial injury, such as endothelia, which can help us to study the vascular endothelial function of simple obesity children. The vascular endothelium releases a lot of vascular actively substance such as Ang II transform enzyme,PE,NO, but there are no marker can be confirmed the function of vascular endothelium the early stage changes. The study assess the function of vascular endothelium in simple obesity children by color Doppler Ultrasonagraphy. It provides a powerful proof to early interpose and estimates the curative effect. Objective To evaluate brachial artery endothelium-dependent dilation in children with simple obesity using color Doppler ultrasound. Methods Thirty simple obesity children (except secondary endocrine deceases) and twenty healthy subjects (control group) were enrolled in this study during January 2009 and December 2009 in our hospital. Brachial artery internal diameter was measured in all subjects before and after reactive hyperemia by ultrasound. The percentage changes of brachial artery internal diameter induced by reactive hyperemia (D%) were calculated. At the same time, fasting blood glucose, total cholesterol, triglyceride, low density lipoprotein and high density lipoproteins were measured in all subjects. Results There were no difference in the brachial artery internal diameter between two groups before reactive hyperemia (P>0.05). The brachial artery internal diameter after reactive hyperemia in simple obesity children was significantly lower than that in control group (P<0.01). The D% in simple obesity children was significantly lower than that in control group (P<0.05). No changing was found in fasting blood glucose between tow groups. Total cholesterol, triglyceride and low density lipoprotein in obesity groups decreased apparently than that in control groups (P<0.01), but the high density lipoproteins was lower in obesity groups than that in control groups. The D% was negative correlation with total cholesterol, triglyceride, low density lipoprotein while positive correlation with high density lipoproteins in all simple obesity children. Conclusion The vascular endothelium-dependent dilation in simple obesity children is damaged. The D% in simple obesity children is chiefly relevant to obesity and blood fat. Color Doppler ultrasound may be a new method to detect vascular endothelium-dependent dilation in simple obesity children.
