Purpose:To evaluate the safety and efficacy of transurethral enucleation of in saline on BPH patients while compared with transurethral resection of in saline.Patients and Methods:In all,86 patients were enrolled into a prospective randomized trial and underwent TUEis(43 patients) or TURis(43 patients) with a follow-up up to 12 months of international prostate sympton score, quality of life score, post-void residual urine volume and urinary peak flow. Preoperative and postoperative serum hemoglobin sodium were measured. Perioperative fluid absorption was calculated. Resected tissue weight was recorded postoperatively. Operative time, were also accessed. Results:The reduction of serum hemoglobin and the quantity of fluid absorption were less in the TUEis group than the TURis group with a mean(SD) of 7.9(0.2)g/ml and 208.9(145.3) ml vs 17.5(0.4) and 305.3(205.6)。The resected weights (34.2±6.9g vs 28±6.1g) was significantly higher in the TUEis group. Stress incontinence rate(16.3% vs 6.9%) was significantly higher in the TUEis group. There is no significantly difference in other complications as well as in duration of continually bladder irrigation, duration of catheterization and length of hospital stay. The international prostate symptom score, quality of life score, post-void residual urine volume and urinary peak flow rate was also comparable. Conclusion:This trial shows that the safety and short-term efficacy of TUEis is similar to those of TURis. Further follow-up is needed to ensure durability of these results.
