As the core idea of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM), the holistic concept on one hand regards the human body as an organic whole in which various organs and tissues are inseparable in structure, interrelated and interdependent in physiology, and mutually influential in pathology. On the other hand, it asserts that human health has close relationship with the outer world, including the nature and society. That's why the holistic concept of TCM not only stresses the unity of the human body itself but also attaches great importance to the interrelationship between the body and nature in diagnosing and treating diseases. Also, it asserts that physicians should apply theory of yin and yang, unity of human and heaven, generality of form and spirit in adjusting one's health to the best. As far as the harmonious society is concerned, it consists the harmonious relationships among different inner factors, between human and nature, human and society. In this meaning, the author finds that the holistic concept of TCM has great inspirations to the construction of Chinese harmonious society. This thesis probes into the connotation of the holistic concept of TCM, and analyses three problems that should be resolved in constructing Chinese harmonious society. On this basis, some suggestions are provided to promote the construction of Chinese harmonious society from the perspective of the holistic concept of TCM.This paper consists of four chapters. In the first chapter, backgrounds, arrangements and meanings of this research are introduced. In the main body, the second chapter reveals the essence and history of TCM, then argues that the holistic concept is the fundamental principal of TCM and discusses the content and practical path of it. Also, the author insists that the holistic concept of TCM embodies in three viewpoints, the balance of yin and yang, the unity of human and heaven, the generality of form and thinking. On the basis of this expounding, the author lays stress on three imperative problems in constructing the harmonious society. That is the unbalanced development between cities and rural areas, the non-coordinate development between the economy and resources and environments and the uneven development of economic and social moral. In the forth chapter, the author proposes some suggestions on dissolving such problems and promoting the constructing of harmonious society.
