Objective To evaluate the clinical results of reconstructing annular ligament with forearm intermuscular septum for treatment of chronic radial head dislocation in children. Methods Five cases of chronic radial head dislocation treated by annular ligament reconstruction were studied for their surgical results from November 2007 to December 2008.The patients were evaluated by an elbow performance score based on four parameters (deformity, pain, motion and function). Results The average follow-up time for these patients was 19.8±5.84 months. All of them had pain-free.The mean flexion arc was 122.20±18.23°;The mean extension arc was -1.6±6.35°;The mean pronation arc was 70.00±22.36°;The mean supination arc was 58.00±30.33°;the mean elbow performance score was 74.00±27.70. In two cases with radial nerve injury, one had excellent score, and the other had fair score. Conclusion Annular ligament reconstruction with forearm intermuscular septum can lead to satisfactory results for chronic radial head dislocation in children.
