Objective:In order to promote the healthy and steady sustainable development of blood donation work, the actuality and correlative influential factors of repeated voluntary blood donation in Zhuzhou city were studied.Methods:Self-designed questionnaires were used for collecting data of voluntary blood donors in Zhuzhou city from May to September in 2009 by random sampling method. A number of questions such as the demographic characteristic, history of blood donation and motivation of blood donation, awareness and attitude of the voluntary blood donors, routes of obtaining blood donation knowledge, service quality and satisfaction degree on the blood center workers and environment were inquired in the self-designed questionnaires. SPSS13.0 was used for the statistical analysis of the obtained datum.Results:According to the design,1050 voluntary blood donors were selected as the samples of study, and 1001 questionnaires (95.33%) were obtained. There were 528 first time donors (52.7%) and 473 repeated donors (47.3%) in the 1001 valid respondents. The age of the repeated donors is mainly from 18 to 30 years old. Men, students, soldiers, staffs of the large and medium-sized enterprises, and monthly medium income family are the main repeated donors. The repeated donors were more familiar with the recognition of correlative donation knowledge than the first donors. Whether the first time donors or repeated donors, they usually got information about donation knowledge from radio and television, and the staffs of blood center and promotion materials. The main motivation for voluntary blood donation was love. Logistic regression analysis showed that sex, age, and education degree were the main factors of influencing the repeated donation. The repeated donors were mostly 18-30 years old. The proportion of men was significantly higher than that of women in the repeated donors. Education degree significantly influenced the repeated donation, those with the education degree of high school and above was higher than others.Conclusions:1. The proportion of the first time and repeated donors are 52.7% and 47.3%, respectively. The proportion of the repeated donors is below of the standard WHO required.2. The age of the repeated donors is mainly 18-30 years old. Men, students, soldiers and staffs of large and medium-sized enterprises are the main repeated donors. 3. The recognition of the first and repeated donors about blood donation policy is different.
