PURPOSE: 1. Put forward the new concept of the "cerebral artery elasticity reserves",develop new index of the cerebral artery elasticity reserves:Carotid Elasticity Transmission index(CETI)。2.Compare CETI with"cerebral circulation reserve"(CCR)and the"intima-media thickness of the common carotid artery"(CIMT)to establish a new Detection System of CETI.METHODS: The studies were performed in eighteen healthy New Zealand white rabbits which was divided into two proups:the Normal group and the Hypertension plus high-fat diet group. Produce animal model of hypertension,and use B-mode ultrasound and TCD to detect Hemodynamic changes of the Internal carotid artery(ICA), common carotid artery and basilar artery and then calculate Cerebral artery elasticity transfer index. The correlation between CETI,CIMT and CCR was analyzed Finally.RESULTS: The relationship between CETI1 and CIMT meet the quadratic curve relationship , R2=0.84,R=-0.92,P<0.05,Y=0.85-1.41t+1.08t2;the relationship between CETI2 and CIMT meet the quadratic curve relationship ,R2=0.72,R=-0.85,P<0.05,Y=1.35-3.47t+4.25t2 ; the relationship between CETI3 and CIMT meet the S curve relationship, R2=0.54,R=0.73,P<0.05,Y=e(1.11-0.20/t); the relationship between CETI4 and CIMT meet the S curve relationship, R2=0.62,R=0.79,P<0.05,Y=e(0.68-0.20/t);The ANOVA of different models of the relationship between CETI1, CETI2, CETI3,CETI4 and CCR is not significant; The ANOVA of different models of the relationship between CIMT and CCR is not significant.CONCLUSION: In the early cerebral arteriosclerosis, there is a certain correlation between Cerebral elasticity transfer index and CIMT, but we didn't find obvious correlation either between Cerebral elasticity transfer index and CCR or between CTMT and CCR.
