Objective:This study is to establish the clinical maneuver of the closed intramedullary nail fixation under the aid of external fixator for treating femoral shaft fracture and to provide the theory basis for further promoting this surgery method. Methods:From Sep 2008 to Dec 2009, 30 cases of femoral shaft fracture who were treated in the YanAn University Affiliated Hospital were collected.According to nutritional status and pathogenetic conditions, the cases were divided into two groups:15 cases in the first group were treated with inlocking intramedullary nail fixation combined closed reduction(group A) and 15 cases in the second group were treated with closed intramedullary nail fixation under the aid of external fixator(group B). Compared group A and B respectively on the operative time, intraoperative hemorrhage, bony callus emergenced time, fracture healing requisited time, the function of the knees joint, clinical therapeutic effect, etc. And make statistics analysis,to evaluate the clinical value of this surgery method. Results:All cases were followed up for 8~12 months(average 10.56±1.45 months). There is significant difference between group A and B in the operative time (P<0.05),and there is significant difference in the intraoperative hemorrhage and fluoroscopy times thats are short to group B(P<0.05). There is significant difference between group A and B in bony callus emergenced time and fracture healing requisited time thats are short to group B (P<0.05). There is no significant difference between group A and B in clinical therapeutic effect (P>0.05).Conclusions:Closed intramedullary nail fixation under the aid of external fixator for treating femoral shaft fracture is an ideal therapeutics method for femoral shaft fracture. It possess less trauma and quicker fracture healing ability;it possess satisfactory applied perspective in the field of fracture therapy.
