AbstractObjective: To investigate the effect of pseudolaric acid B on proliferation and apoptosis of human pterygium fibroblasts (HPFs) in vitro and search for a new treatment to prevent the recurrence after pterygium surgery. Methods: HPF was incubated with 0~32μmol/l pseudolaric acid B for 24~96h. The M TT method was used to assay the biologic activities of pseudolaric acid B in different time and doses. The expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA ) in fibroblasts was detected by immunohistochemistry method. Results: Administration of 2~32μmol/l pseudolaric acid B 24~72h could significantly inhibit HPFs proliferation in time and dose dependent manner ( P < 0. 05), When the concentration of pseudolaric acid B≥2μmol / l for 24 h, the expression of PCNA was significantly inhibited in a dose - dependent manner (P <0. 05).Conclusion: Pseudolaric acid B can inhibit the proliferation of HPFs, the effects were time and dose dependent.
