Objective To investigate the expression of FoxP3(forkhead/winged helix transcription factor, a specific protein of regulatory T cell) in emphysema combine interstitial pneumonia SD rats induced by smoking and the effects of retinoic acid on it.Methods The emphysema combine interstitial pneumonia and its acute infection model were established by smoking and lipopolysaccharides injection, and rats were injected with retinoic acid. The pathological changes and the expression of FoxP3 in lung were estimated after HE staining, Masson staining and immunohistochemistry technique. Results Pathological findings in the lung of smoking rats include emphysema-like injury and interstitial pneumonia, both of which correlated with smoking. The expression of FoxP3 in the lung of emphysema combine interstitial pneumonia rats induced by smoking was increased. The effect of anti-fibrosis and the ability of induce FoxP3 expression by retinoic acid were ignored in smoking rats, but reversible reaction were seen when lipopolysaccharides was added. Conclusions Compared with the control group, the number of regulatory T cells in emphysema combine interstitial pneumonia rats and acute infected rats induced by smoking and lipopolysaccharides was increased, and retinoic acid exercised a complicate influence on it.
