Objective To understand the psychosomastic status of cancer long-term surviviors, their coping and psychosomatic regulates and cancer risk factors, And find out their common psychological characteristics and common treatment and rehabilitation experience. To explore a new biopsychosocial model for the cancer comprehensive therapy and rehabilitation. To provide the theoretical basis for psychological intervention. And to lay the foundation for further research. Methods In this study, questionnaire method and individual interviewwere combined to carry out. The cancer long-term survival group( survival time≥5 years) and cancer contrast group (survival time < 3 years) patients were choosed for participation from Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Two groups patients were researched through the open questions , the Cancer Dangerous Factor and Aura Manifestation List (CDFAML), the Tumour Psychological Scale (TP), the Cancer Coping Modes Questionnaire(CCMQ), the Psychological Adjustment Scale for Cancer Patients (PASCP) and the Functional Living Index-Cancer (FLIC). Data was analyzed by the descriptive statistics, chi-square test, analysis of variance, and logistic regression method to compare general material, cancer risk factors, psychological characteristics, coping and psychological adjustment and life quality between two groups. Results 151 and 153 patients were respectively enrolled to the cancer long-time survival group and the contrast group respectively. Most patients of two groups knew their illness in two weeks after diagnosis, most hoped to get medical, economic and spiritual support. Surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy were major treatment among two groups, but the cancer long-term surviviors received Chinese Traditional Medicine more signicantly than the contrast group. long-term survival patients were better in mentality and social support. Most long-time survivors attributed their success to positive psychological well-being.(1) The Cancer Dangerous Factor and Aura Manifestation List: all four dimensions showed signicant difference between two group. In"somatic"dimension, the long-term survival group scored (2.20±0.49) lower than contrast group(2.43±0.88), but among"psychological","social factor"and"life habits"dimensions the long-term survival group scored higher (respectively 2.06±0.66, 2.15±0.40 and 2.15±0.50) than the contrast group (respectively 1.69±0.67, 1.77±0.71 and 1.77±0.71). (2) TPS: none of four dimensions showed signicant differences between group(P > 0.05). (3) CCMQ: Three of five dimensions showed significant difference between two group. The long-term survival group scored higher among"confrontation"and"catharsis"but lower in"fantacy"dimension than the contrast group. (4) PASCP: Two groups of patients are statistically significant different in all five dimensions including"emotion/ self-esteem","subjective feeling","interpersonal relationship/social life","the daily life"and the"other", and the long-term survival group scored higher than the contrast group. (5)FLIC: all five dimensions ("physical well-being and ability","psychological well-being","social well-being","nausea"and"hardship due to cancer") showed signicant difference between two group. the long-term survival group scored(respectively 5.92±1.08, 5.19±0.95, 5.21±1.26, 5.92±1.24 and 6.18±1.27) higher than the contrast group (respectively 3.40±1.01, 4.35±1.12, 3.26±1.33, 4.14±1.18 and 3.93±1.82) . ..Conclusion 1. In the Cancer Dangerous Factor and Aura Manifestation List ,"psychology","social factors"and"life habit"dimensions influenced on the long-term survival group more greatly than the contrast , but"body"dimension affect the control group more obviously. 2.There was no significant difference in cancer psychological behavior characteristics between long-term survival group and control group. 3. different ways of coping and psychological adjustment may affect cancer patients'life quality and survival time. 4. The long-term survival group cancer patients showed signicantly better life functional quality than the contrast. 5. The psychosomatic status of the long-term survivors, the relationship between mind and body among cancer patients and the survival time affecting factors needs to be further studied.
