ObjectiveTo conclude craniofacial feature of adult patients with operated unilateral cleft lip and palate by three-dimensional analysis, and to analysis the feature of craniofacial growth by comparing the craniofacial feature of different period of these patients.Materials and method1 The experimental group comprised of 20 adult patients with operated unilateral cleft lip and palate, compared to control group comprised of 20 samples who have individual normal occlusion. All these samples were scanned by CBCT,Variables were measured with CT reconstructed image using MIMICS 10.0 analyzing programe,to study the craniofacial features in adult patients with operated unilateral cleft lip and palate by comparing the differents between the two groups.2 The experimental group comprised of 20 adult patients with operated unilateral cleft lip and palate, compared to control group comprised of 20 childhood patients with operated unilateral cleft lip and palate. All these samples were scanned by CBCT, Variables were measured with CT reonstructed image using MIMICS 10.0 analyzing program,to study the features of craniofacial growth in operated patients with unilateral cleft lip and palate by comparing the differents between the two groups.ResultsThe research 1 indicate that:The measurement items which reflect the cranial structure in the operated UCLP groups were similar to the control group. The length of maxillary and palate, the width of palate in UCLP groups were shorter than the control group. The width and depth of the mandibular's bottom in operated UCLP groups were shorter than the control group, but the gonial angle in UCLP groups were larger than the control group. The sagittal development of maxillary and the development of posterior face height were inadequate, the chin was retracted compared with the control group. The research 2 indicate that:the measurement items which reflect the cranial structure in the adults groups were similar to the childhood group. The development of width and height in maxillary were sufficient, but the development of palate and the length in maxillary were inadequate. The depth and height of the mandibular developed well, the measurement items which reflect the width of posterior mandibular had the tendency of decrease.the face hight increased markedly, The sagittal impairment between the maxillary and mandibular was detectedConclusion1 CBCT image can reflect the craniofacial morphology accurately.2 Patients with operated UCLP had the same cranial structure to the normal persons.3 The sagittal development of maxillary, the sagittal and transversal development of palate in operated UCLP patients were inadequate.4 Coordination mechanism can make the relationship between the maxillary and mandibular basically normal.5 The craniofacial of operated UCLP patients has it's distinctive growth trend.
