Objective:To assess the surgical risk of aged patients with oral and maxillofacial tumors, make perioperative managements to reduce postoperative complications, and improve treatment efficacy.Methods:Three hundred and eleven cases with oral and maxillofacial tumors were collected to analyze the disease severity and co-existence systemic diseases. All patients were more than 60 years old. According to the patients'past history and medical examination, the cardiovascular system, endocrine system, respiratory system and other organ functions were evaluated. Then, the surgical risk was divided into three levels: low, medium, and high; On the basis of the level of surgical risk, perioperative managements of the monitoring indicators, the strengthen control and perioperative treatments were performed, and finally analyzed.Results:Among 311 inpatients, the ratio of male to female was 1.488:1; there were 151 cases with malignant tumor,(48.55%), and 160 cases with benign tumor(51.45%), the ratio of benign and malignant tumor was 1.06:1; there were 190 cases with systemic disease, (61.10%). Among the cases in study, there were 82 cases with cardiovascular disease,42 cases with diabetes,28 cases with respiratory disease; 38 cases with more than one coexisting diseases; the result of preoperative assessment in this study surgical risk were that 140 patientswith low-risk,130 ones with medium risk,41 cases with high risk; All the patients in this study were treated safely.Conclusions:Because It was necessary to evaluate the surgical risk in the peroperative period for the senior case with oral and maxillofacial tumors and efficient treatment was critical for those patients in periopertive period with systemic disease.
