Objective:To investigate the role of S100A9 and Survivin in the cancerization of chronic pancreatitis, also the relationship between the expression of S100A9 Survivin and the clinical pathologyical feature of pancreatic cancer. Methods:Immunohistochemical method was used to detect the the expression of S100A9 and Survivin in the tissues of pancreatic cancer, chronic pancreatitis and the normal pancrease. The distinction of the expression and the relationship between the expression of S100A9 Survivin and the clinical pathologyical feature was statistically analyzed.Results:(1) The ratios of positive expression of S100A9 in pancreatic cancer and chronic pancreatitis were respectively 72.5% and 45%.Also the ratios of the positive expressions of Survivin in pancreatic cancer and chronic pancreatitis wre respectively 80% and 35%. No expression was detected in the normal pancreatic tissue.(2) The expression of S100A9 and Survivin in pancreatic cancer was not statistically related with age, gender, tumor size, tumor location and lymphatic metastasis while closely related with tumor differentiation. (3) The expression of S100A9 and Survivin in pancreatic cancer were positively correlated with each other. And the same happened to Survivin.(4) The survival time of patients who suffer from pancreatic cancer with negative expression of S100A9 and Survivin is longer than that with positive expression.Conclusion:(1) The expression of S100A9 and Survivin in pancreatic cancer is higher than that in chronic pancreatitis and normal pancrease. And that suggests S100A9 and Survivin may play an immportant role in the cancerization of chronic pancreatitis.(2) S100A9 and Survivin may significantly correlate with the occurrence and progress of pancreatic cancer.(3) S100A9 and Survivin may play important roles in prognosis of pancreatic cancer.
