Objective: To evaluate the Clinic characteristic, prognosis and long-term survival of APL patients. Methods: The 89cases of newly diagnosed APL patients from July 2007 to July 2009 were enrolled into this study. Induction treatment containing all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) plus ATO, then followed by therapy with chemotherapy, containing DNR, homoharringtonine or etoposide plus Ara-C alternatively. The total period of treatment was 3 years. Univariate and multivariate analysis of the potential factors influencing survival of these patients was carried out by comparison of the cases in same stage with chi square test and Log- Rank and Cox regression methods. Prognostic indicators were demonstrated by CR rate, overall survival (OS) and event - free survival (EFS).Results: The complete remission rate achieved 91.43%, the estimated overall survival(OS) rate of 83(out search of 6)was 80.72%, The EFS rate of patients with WBC less than 10×109/L was 89.40%,which was higher than that with WBC greater than or equal to 10×109/L 69.40%(P<0.05) ,and the OS rate had prominent difference. The abnormity function of cruor is poor prognostic factor for APL.Conclusion: Induction therapy with ATRA+ATO is effective and safe for newly diagnosed APL. APL with high initial WBC can also achieve long-term survival if get CR for the first time and receive post remission therapy routinely.
