Biyan tablet, made up of Xanthii Fructus, Forsythiae Fructus, Saposhnikoviae Radix, Schisandrae Fructus Chinensis and so on, is used as medicine for treatment of acute and chronic rhinitis wind heat accumulate lung disease. The curative effect on Biyan tablet is distinct and has good export prospects. According to, imported traditional herbal medicine can be registed only if it has made quality standards of traditional herbal medicinal products. This thesis introduces the determination of schizandrin and forsythin in Biyan tablet by RP-HPLC and the qualities evaluation of Fructus Forsythiae which was collected from 10 different origins by finger-print technology.Studies on the quality standard:To establish the determination of schizandrin and forsythin in Biyan tablet by RP-HPLC. The assaying method for the optimum preparing conditions and determination has been studied. The determination has been established and can be applied to accurate and reasonable quality control system control of Biyan tablet. Schizandrin showed a good linearity in the range of 0.08~2.56μg. The average recovery was 100.78%(RSD= 1.42%, n= 6). Based on the above studies, the content of Schizandrin should not less than 0.3424 mg/g in Biyan tablet. And there was a good correlation in the range of 0.08~2.56μg for Forsythin. The average recovery was 98.49% (RSD= 1.91%, n= 6). So the content of Forsythin should not less than 0.2625 mg/g in the standard of Biyan tablet.Studies on the fingerprinting:To establish the fingerprint of Fructus Forsythiae, HPLC-DAD was employed to determine the forsythin in Fructus Forsythiae which was collected from 10 different origins.11 compositions have been ascertained as the characteristic of Fructus Forsythiae by the software of Computer Aided Similarity Evaluation. This experiment suggested that the grobal characteristics of different origin samples chromatographic peaks were not good. There are four samples'semblance were less than 0.9, and the semblance of sample 7, sample 9 and sample 10 were less than 0.8, respectively. In the experiment, the content of Forsythin was low and only three samples' content of Forsythin was higher than the minimum standards in Chinese Pharmacopoeia (edition of 2010). The result shows that it would be better if samples identified carefully and combined with principal constituents analysis. Setting the peak area of No.9 chromatographic peak (Forsythin) as l,the proportionality between the No.9 and each characteristic absorption band was stable. In addition, it shows that the fingerprints generated from the general average can be treated as the referent fingerprints in the quality standard.The research established an accurate and reasonable method for the quality control of Biyan Tablets and provides objective basis for the export of Biyan Tablets. In addition,it also established an accurate and convenient fingerprint which provide scientific basis for Fructus Forsythiae in order to choose the better quality.
