BackgroundSepsis is one of the most important predisposition to Septic shock/MODS, it is a serious risk factor to patients'health and cause high mortality. Septic patients are prone to suffer from Intestinal Dysfunction, which might make Sepsis worse, even induced MODS. So intestines play an important role in the whole course of sepsis. At present what western medicine can do for preventing and treating Intestine Dysfunction is somewhat limited. Chinese medicine is quite special at gastrointestinal disease. Present the study on Intestinal Dysfunction in sepsis'TCM syndrome types is still defective, and the therapy is monotonous. So, to summarize the TCM syndrome types characteristic of Intestinal Dysfunction in Sepsis', is very important for TCM treatment on it.ObjectiveSummarizing Intestine Dysfunction's morbidity in every TCM syndrome type, and analysing their prognosis, to improve TCM treatments in preventing and treating Intestine Dysfunction In Sepsis.MethodsBasing on a retrospective survey, take a record of sepsis patients'TCM syndromes types, distinguish the Intestine Dysfunction patients basing on the standard of diagnosis. Then compare the morbidity, degree (such as APACHE II scores, LAC) and prognosis (such as the morbidity of MODS, MODS scores, motality) of Intestine Dysfunction in each TCM syndrome.Results 1. Sepsis patients with Intestine Dysfunction have a poor prognosis, they got higher morbidity of MODS, MODS scores, mortality, which were positively correlated with the seriousness of Intestinal Dysfunction.2. According to the research about the TCM syndrome types of Sepsis patients with Intestine Dysfunction, the percentage of ShiZheng was 33.3%, so it's not the major one of TCM syndrome types, and the symptoms among the three syndromes were without specificness. What is more, the prognosis of patients with XuZheng was the worst.ConclusionIntestine Dysfunction may aggravate the disease of Sepsis, so some measures should be taken to protect intestine function. Among the three TCM syndrome types, ShiZheng and XuShiJiaZaZheng are in certain proportion. So during the TCM treatment, besides Qingre, Tongfu, Xiexia, protecting ZhengQi is necessary.
