Hypertension is one kind of the most common cardiovascular diseases. This research was for the purpose of observing the clinical effect and the safety in the treatment of hypertension with Denglaozhejue Decoction of Nine Ingredients. To start from the clinical practical, looking for the optimization and rational therapy program which is a mixture of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine, and which can get favorable result in controlling the patients' blood pressure and further guide the Denglaozhejue Decoction of Nine Ingredients wildly used in the clinical treatment.A total of sixty Hypertension patients in the period from the January 2010 to the March 2011, were divided randomly into two groups, the treatment group (n=30) and control group (n=30).The control group was treated with the conventional antihypertensive drug of amlodipine besylate tablet, norvasc,5mg/d, while the treatment group was treated with Denglaozhejue Decoction of Nine Ingredients on the basis of conventional antihypertensive drug. Denglaozhejue Decoction of Nine Ingredients would be taken twice a day. After two-month treatment, ambulatory blood pressure and comprehensive effectiveness were compared in two groups. The secure targets of the laboratory indexes such as blood routine test, the urine routine, the stool routine, the kidney function (BUN, Cr), the liver function (ALT, AST) and so on were compared and recorded. The adverse reaction was also observed and recorded down. 1. The blood pressure reduced in the treatment group and control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.01).The systolic blood pressure(SBP) and the diastolic blood pressure(DBP) were decressed in the two groups, and the reduction of the treatment group were higher than control group. The differences were statistically significant (P<0.01).2. The pulse pressure (PP) were reduced in the two groups, and there was little distinct between them (P>0.05)3. The T/P(SBP) in the treatment group was higher than control group. The differences were statistically significant (P<0.01), then the difference of T/P(DBP) in the two groups were no statistically significant (P>0.05)4. The smoothness index(SI) in the two groups were incressed, the differences were significant (P<0.05),but the differences between the two groups were no significant (P>0.05)5. On comprehensive effectiveness, the treatment group's total effectiveness(96.7%) were significantly better than the control group which total effectiveness(70.0%), so the effects of the treatment group was better than the control group. The differences were statistics significance(P<0.01).6. After one-month treatment, in the respect of double dose rate of amlodipine besylate tablet between two groups, the differences between them were no significant (P>0.05). After treatment, the fuifilled of the blood pressure in the treatment group and the control group were 93.3%,73.3% respectively. The differences between them were significant (P<0.05).7.In the respect of security between two groups, there was no side effect happened among the treatment group. There were two cases to appear a blush and the swelling of feet among the control group, but recovery with no treatment. The effect of Denglaozhejue Decoction of Nine Ingredients combining with the conventional antihypertensive drug can effectively reduce the systolic blood pressure (SBP), the diastolic blood pressure (DBP) and pulse pressure (PP) in hypertensive patients. The T/P and the smoothness index (SI) can be increased, and the blood pressure can be declined constantly. The cooperation of Chinese and Western Medicine has obviously improved clinical symptom, and stabilized the patients'condition, and reducted the adverse effects and complication.
