| Background and Objective:Cough variant asthma (CVA) is coughing as the main clinical manifestations of an asthma. Which Is a special type of asthma. It has the characteristics of chronic persistent, stubborn and recurrent. The study of Chinese medicine based on the "non-disease" theory to determine the way of benefiting vital energy for "eliminating wind and relieve spasm" to improve immune functions of patients with cough variance asthma during remission stage, in order to treat and improve CVA effectively.Method:The 48 patients diagnosed with CVA, using the PEMS3.1 software package, were divided randomly into two groups:the treatment group and the control group. The treatment group in which 24 cases were treated by "eliminating wind and relieve spasm", one bagevery time; The control group in which 24 cases were treated by Ketotifen and Salmeterol Xinafoate Aerosol, being treated for 8 weeks together, and the two groups couldn't eat any medicine when they were being treated. before and after the treatment calculate the level of the immune IL-4, IFN-γ, and pulmonary function。the difference between the groups were compared.Results:1.Both of patient in the treatment group and contrl group, the level of IL-4 was decreased markedly (P<0.05).2. Both of patient in the treatment group and contrl group, the level of IFN-γwere increased obviously (P<0.05).3. Both of patient in the treatment group and contrl group, PD20FEV1 was decreased markedly (P<0.05), the treatment group was superior to the control group (P<0.05)Conclusion:"eliminating wind and relieve spasm" can have function at immunocell to lower the level of IL-4, increased the level of IFN-γ, and improve immune function in patients with cough variant asthma, to improve symptoms in patients with cough variant asthma, and reduce airway hyperresponsiveness.
