| BackgroundSudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss which be shorted for Sudden Deafness, is a common emergency in Otolaryngology. The domestic and overseas investigations of Sudden Deafness are mainly on the characteristic and prognosis of hearing loss. The patients who suffer Sudden Deafness are usually have tinnitus symptoms. Some patients consider that tinnitus brings more trouble to them than hearing loss do. They feel distress and anxiety or depression. Their quality of life and work efficiency descend, even worst, some of them can't work and study normally. Some patients'tinnitus will be lasted for a long time even if their hearing is recovered. There are few investigations about the subject of relevant factors with prognosis for tinnitus of Sudden Deafness. The objectives of this study were to analyze the potential factors influcencing the prognosis of tinnitus of Sudden Deafness. It could provide the evidences for the therapy and give instructional advices for the prognosis.Result64 cases of Sudden Deafness who had tinnitus were collected from the GuangDong Hospital of TCM in March 2010 to December 2010. The average age of the patients with 25 males and 39 females was 40.37±13.54 years. The average time elapsed between the onset of heating loss and the beginning of treatmen was 8.17±6.87 days.25 patients were with vertigo and 21 patients had difficulties in sleep. The results of single factor analysis show that, the prognosis of the tinnitus was correlated with the age,the effectiveness of hearing loss treatment and with or without vertigo (P<0.05), but not with the hearing threshold levels of both speech and highfrequencles, the types of the audiometric curve, the objective syndrome differentiation which ear suffered. the sensation level of tinnitus,sex,in-hospital time, quality of Sleep, the medicine of the treatment, etc.(P>0.05). Multi-factor Logistic regression analysis shows that, only the effectiveness of hearing loss treatment and with or without vertigo are connected with the prognosis of tinnitus (P<0.05).ConclusionThe better the effectiveness of hearing loss treatment have, the better the prognosis of tinnitus will be. The patients who suffer vertigo will have a better recovery of tinnitus. Young patients will have better prognosis than the old. But by Logistic regression analysis, patients'age associated with this factor is removed. The hearing threshold levels of both speech and highfrequencles, the types of the audiometric curve, the objective syndrome differentiation, which ear suffered, the sensation level of tinnitus,sex,in-hospital time, quality of sleep and the medicine of the treatment have no significant correlation with the prognosis of the tinnitus. |
