【Objective】To establish an animal model of mini-percutaneous nephrolithotomy irrigation fluid absorption and study the state of the irrigation fluid absorption.【Methods】Closed colony Diannan experimental pigs were divided into 5 groups: control, low-pressure irrigation, renal pelvis perforation, vascular injury, and high-pressure irrigation group. All animals were injected with H218O tracer via ear veins to simulate clinical state of mini-percutaneous nephrolithotomy irrigation fluid absorption and inspect the content of blood 18O as well as monitor the changes of heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, mean arterial pressure, serum electrolytes, blood routine and renal function.【Results】A total of 6 animal models of mini-percutaneous nephrolithotomy irrigation fluid absorption were successfully established. The mean irrigation time and volume were 180 minutes and 11000 mL (11000±350ml) respectively without irrigation fluid absorption syndrome occurring in pigs. No serious complications were found except a pig died of bladder rupture.Compared with control group, in the low-pressure irrigation group, the content of blood 18O decreased although the difference was not statistically significant. In contrast, in Vascular injury, renal pelvis perforation and high-pressure irrigation group, the blood 18O was shown to be significantly lower than control group. The mean blood 18O contents were declined in all experimental groups;According to the declining extent from lowest to highest, the order was vascular injury, high-pressure irrigation, renal pelvis perforation group and low-pressure irrigation group. In spite of the heart rates were demonstrated to be increased and peripheral blood oxygen saturation decreased in the four experimental groups, the significance of each parameter did not receive statistical difference.【Conclusions】Closed colony Diannan pig is able to be used to successfully establish the animial model of mini-percutaneous.This study suggests that mPNL under low-pressure irrigation is a safe technique for the management of upper urinary tract calculi.
