Objective:To have a collection of lip and skin color values of the 202 tested subjects and 50 cases of alveolar mucosa, lip and the skin color value of edentulous people. To research the scope and relevance of the lips and skin color values , as well as the color value differences of 202 people with tooth jaws of different gender, age and smoking or not. To research the distribution of the alveolar mucosa, lip and the skin color value of edentulous people and their relevance.Methods:1.To collect with the Japanese Konica Minolta CM-700d Spectrophotometer and analyze the lip, skin color values of 202 people with tooth jaws. To analyze 50 cases of edentulous alveolar mucosa, vermilion of the lip, range of skin color and record the tested people.2. Based on collecting documents, sum up on the use of SPSS13.0 software for statistical analysis, gain the value results of 202 patients on their lips and skin colors in different parts, to find if there is correlation between the values of skin color and lips vermilion and gather the differences of color values of different gender, age, smoking ,and find the correlation among the color values of alveolar mucosa, vermilion of the lip and skin.Results:1. The color values of the lip of 202 cases:L*53.25±3.42, a*11.19±1.70, b*8.77±2.12; skin color values : L*61.87±3.59, a*7.21±1.29, b*12.98±1.64. mucosa color of 50 edentulous patients group:L*52.89±5.20, a*9.58±1.82, b*8.32±2.06; lip color values:L*50.94±3.81, a*10.97±0.95, b*7.41±1.41; skin color values : L*58.66±3.41, a*7.99±1.42 , b*12.62±1.63.2. Experiment I:Through 202 cases, L* value of lip negatively correlated with vermilion a* value, positively correlated with b* values of the lip, positively correlated with L* value of cheek skin and negatively correlated with the a* value of the cheek skin. I also came to the conclusion that a* value of the lip and the value a* of cheek skin had a positive correlation; the b* value of lip and cheek skin b* had a positive correlation; Cheek skin L* and the b* value of lip was positively correlated but had a negative correlation with the value of cheek skin a*; Cheek skin a* value and b* value of lip was negatively correlated. Comparatively speaking, women's value is bigger than men in L* of the lip, younger groups bigger than older persons, non-smokers bigger than the smokers; Young age has a larger value of a* of lip; b* value of lip is greater too in younger age than older persons; Comparatively speaking, women's cheek skin a* value is larger than men, younger larger than older persons, non-smokers larger than smokers. On the a* value of cheek, male is larger than female, older larger than the younger. The younger is lager than older persons on b* value of cheek skin.Experiment II:For the edentulous alveolar mucosa of 50 cases, its value of L* were negatively correlated with the alveolar mucosa a* value and positively correlated with alveolar mucosa b* value, the skin b* value and b* value of the lip; the a* value of alveolar mucosa and lip have a positive correlation. Alveolar mucosa b* and skin value b* was positively related; the b* and L* value of lip was positively correlated ,the b* value of lip was positively correlated with skin L* value and negatively correlated with the skin a* value; the b* value of lip and a* value of skin have a negative correlation ; the L* value and a* value of skin have a negative correlation. Conclusion:Through this preliminary study about alveolar mucosa, vermilion of the lip, skin color, I've obtained the chroma scope and their relationship. I also have collected a certain number of healthy alveolar mucosa, skin and lip color value and found the relevance of colors and the differences of age and sex. All these studies have provide a solid basis for difference guides and prosthesis and is constraint for complex system and clinical doctors'choice of colors. These studies also have certain reference on future research.
