With the constant improvement of treatment for breast cancer, the survival is extended gradually, the quality of life (QOL) for breast cancer patients attracted mpre medical attention. Scholars have done a lot of research in this area, including:the reliability and validity of foreign scales for Chinese patients, the status and influencing factors of QOL under different treatments, the impact of a variety of interventions on the QOL for breast cancer patients. There are fewer studies for breast conserving patients and there is no study on the effect of continuous nursing on the QOL for breast cancer patients after breast conserving therapy.[Objective] To explore the effect of continuous nursing intervention on the quality of life, anxiety status and the function of the effected limb for breast cancer patients after breast conserving therapy (BCT); provide basis for the clinical nursing.[Methods] Employ random controlled trail methods,125 BCT patients were selected and allocated into two groups randomly, there were 62 patients in the observation group and 63 in the intervention group. There were no significant differences between these two groups as to the basic status. All of them received follow up for 1 year after informed consent. The patients in the control group received the routine nursing intervention. The patients in the intervention group received a systematic, continuous nursing intervention, as well as the routine nursing. They were assessed with Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Breasts,Zung self-rating anxiety scale (SAS),Zung self-rating depression scale (SDS),Functional assessment of the effected limbs assessment of the incidence of lymph-edema.Analyse the scales 1 week,1 month,3 months,6 months and 1 year after the operation, recorded and analysed the data about the scales.[Results] The effect of continuous nursing intervention on the QOL for patients after BCT:The total score of QOL for the two groups differ as the time changes, there were significant differences between the two groups(p<0.05); therc was no significant difference between the two groups 1 week after the operation(p>0.05), there were significant differences between the two groups 1 month,3 months,6 months and 1 year after the operation (p<0.05), the QOL were higher in the intervention group than in the control group. The effect of continuous nursing intervention on the psychological status for patients after BCT:The total score of SAS for the two groups differ as the time changes, there were significant differences between the two groups(p<0.05); there was no significant difference between the two groups 1 week after the operation(p>0.05), there were significant differences between the two groups 1 month,3 months,6 months and 1 year after the operation (p<0.05), the score were lower in the intervention group than in the control group. The total score of SDS for the two groups differ as the time changes, there were significant differences between the two groups(p<0.05); there were significant differences between the two groups 1 week,1 month,3 months,6 months and 1 year after the operation (p<0.05), the score were lower in the intervention group than in the control group. The effect of continuous nursing intervention on the function of the effected limb for patients after BCT:There was significant difference as to the total score of Functional evaluation of the ipsilated shoulder and arm function between the two groups 1 year after the operation(p<0.05), the score was higher in the intervention group than in the control group; there was significant difference as to the incidence of lymph-edema between the two groups 1 year after the operation (p<0.05), the incidence was lower in the intervention group than in the control group.[Conclusions] Continuous nursing intervention could improve the compliance of the patients for functional exercise, ameliorate the function of the effected limb and the psychological status, and enhance the quality of life for BCT patients. The continuous nursing is an effective intervention for the comprehensive rehabilitation of breast cancer patients after BCT.
