Primary total hip arthroplasties have reported success rates of greater than 90% in many series with a longer than 15-year follow-up. Alumina ceramic-on-ceramic total hip arthroplasty (THA) has been widely used.Meanwhile,fracture of the ceramic acetabular cup is a rare late complication of total hip arthroplasty. We report a case in which the patient underwent total hip arthroplasty for osteoarthrosis of left hip.This patient injuried one year after the operation.He had difficult in walking and with distinct grinding sounds.(crunch with motion) X-ray and CT shows fracture of ceramic cup,femur head perforating acetabular prosthesis.The patient underwent revision hip arthroplasty using cross linked polyethylene and metal head. The postoperative course was normal.
