Objective: To study on the outcome of gravidas and infants between early onset severe pre-eclampsia and late onset severe pre-eclampsia by comparing the clinical datum. Methods: Retrospective analysis of the clinical data of 74 patients at severe preeclampsia of women in Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from January 2002 to December 2010, and the relative data of newborns in our hospital and Affiliated Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University. Patients were divided into 2 groups:early onset group(n=28)with those onset <34 weeks of gestation and late onset group(n=46) with onset≥34 weeks of gestation. The basic data of gravidas, child-bearing history, medical examination results, and outcome of the perinatal were compared of the two groups. Results: There were more gravidas in early onset group than in late onset group at the age equal or elder than 35 years old (P <0.05). The comparison of hypertension family history or past history between the two groups was statistically significant (P <0.05). Admission gestational age and delivery gestational age of the early onset group were obviously less than the late onset group (P <0.05).The difference of the conservative treatment time of two groups was statistically significant (P <0.05). The serum creatinine in early onset group were more higher than late onset group (P <0.05);while APTT was lower than late onset group(P <0.05). The cases whose urine protein qualitative analysis≥+2 in early onset group were more than late onset group(P <0.05). Percentage of gravidas ,and those who had discomfort, placental abruption and ascites, the difference was being significant (P <0.05).The incidence of giving up the perinatal and neonatal birth, mortality and asphyxia were also different between the two groups (P <0.05).In the event of neonatal asphyxia, the boys occurrence of severe asphyxia was higher than the proportion of girls, the difference was significant (P <0.05).Conclusion: Early onset severe preeclampsia, compared with late onset, was early onset, severe illness, poor prognosis of perinatal children. In the newborns, the prognosis of boy infants were worse than girl infants.
