Objective:To investigate OSAS and its severity as a impact factor of the left atrial enlargement. Methods:The total subjects were divided to three groups: 20 patients with simple snoring, 32 patients with mild to midrange OSAS, and 44 patients with severe OSAS, who were all diagnosed by PSG, and had accepted echocardiography, according to the left atrial diameter, the patients were divided to left atrial enlargement group and left atrial normal group. Risk factors of statistical significance were firstly screened out by single factor analysis, and then independent risk factors by stepwise Logistic regression. Results:Single factors analysis showed that age, sex, BMI, AHI, minSaO2, the time of snoring, HBP, drinking, smoking were risk factors of left atrial enlargement. Stepwise Logistic regression analysis showed that the risk of left atrial enlargement caused by severe OSAS is at 6.659 times comparing with that caused by simple snoring, the adjusted odds ratio of older, overweight/obesity, HBP and drinking for left atrial enlargement were 3.910, 3.907, 4.731 and 5.040 respectively. Conclusion:The presence of severe OSAS may be a predictor for left atrial enlargement independent of age, BMI, HBP and drinking. |
