This paper deals with preparation of hydroxyapatite/chitosan porous materials and some relative aspects are in the following: study of the mechanical properties of different hydroxyapatite/chitosan composites by co-precipitation; using co-precipitation combined with vacuum freeze drying method to preparation hydroxylapatite/chitosan porous materials, and the third phase to improve its mechanical properties and porous structure; preliminary study on the biological properties of the hydroxyapatite/chitosan porous materials. The effects of different process on porous materials by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) , scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electronic universal testing machines. The relative data are also tested.In this study, the first we made hydroxyapatite /chitosan composite materials by using co-precipitation, and determined effects of complexation between hydroxyapatite This paper deals with preparation of hydroxyapatite/chitosan porous materials and some relative aspects are in the following: study of the mechanical properties of different hydroxyapatite/chitosan composites by co-precipitation; and chitosan content on strength of composite materials, Then we got the hydroxyapatite and chitosan weight ratio 7:3. The co-precipitation combines with vacuum freeze-drying to preparation of porous materials has been studied. The porous materials have the well pore shape, pore size is about 100μm and porosity is highly, up to 83.45%, but poor mechanical properties. In order to enhance strength of hydroxyapatite/chitosan porous materials, we used polyvinyl alcohol and gelatin as the third relative. Preparation of three-phase porous material, polyvinyl alcohol and gelatin played a role in enhancing mechanical properties.In order to get a better pore shape porous materials, applying the frozen effect of liquid nitrogen to prepare small ice particles as applying porogen-adding to materials. This uniform structure with a large aperture matching and ambient dispersive micropores, and interconnected porous can promote cell's adhesion, proliferation, differentiation and accelerate the bone cells'growth, climbing and running through the material, thus speed up the bone defect repairment.In this study, we preliminary researched the biological properties of hydroxyapatite/chitosan porous materials. By putting the test sample into rabbit leg bone, we observed the effect between materials and the rabbit bone tissue in different implanting time. Our materials show a good bio-safety and bone conduction. This provides a theoretical foundation for its wide application in the field of biological materials.
