Objective:Though observing the effect of strengthening root decoction joint with cetirizine to treat with chronic urticaria, research on clinical advantages of combination of modern and Chinese medicine.Methods:80 cases of CU divided into two groups. The treatment group is given strengthening root decoction(200ml, tid) joint with cetirizine (10mg,qd). Dated the patients itching degree,the size of wheals,distribution of lesions,Erythematous degree,number of lesions,etc before treatment,a week,two weeks,4weeks,then analyze the recent efficacy.Results:There is no big differences on syndromes of the two groups before the treatment (P>0.05).There is differences on syndromes of the tow groups after the treatment. The clinical trial showed that the effective rates of the two groups are 78.95%(treatment group),56.76% at the first treatment week,78.95%,56.76%at the second treatment week,84.21%,75.68%at the third treatment week.The total score of syndrome are 10.13±5.89(treatment group),8.97±4.63 32(control group),there is significant differences (P<0.05) The difference of effective rate between two groups was not statistically significant (P>0.05).3 of the 75 cases showed the adverse reaction, mainly dry mouth,headache,somnolence,uncomfortable of stomach and spleen, while the adverse reaction is mild, diminished after the drug withdral.Conclusions:Both of the two groups treatment are effective in the short-term cure of CU. While the therapy of strengthening root decoction joint with cetirizine has certain long-term efficacy on CU and lower recurrence rate, and less side effect rate.
