Evaluation Of Right Ventricular Function In Patients With Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) By Tissue Doppler Imaging

Objective 1. To investigate the value of the tricuspid valve annular velocity in evaluating right ventricular function of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) using tissue doppler imaging (TDI).2. To investigate the value of Tei index in assessing right ventricular globle function in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) 3.To investigate the value of IVA in assessing right ventricular function in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).Methods 36 SLE patients from the Second Hospital of Lan zhou University and 32 healthy subject were involved in the study from March 2010-September 2010. All these cases underwent routine echocardiographic and tissue doppler echocardiographic. Several routine ultrasonic parameters were measured including right ventricular dimension left-right, right atrium dimension superior-inferior, right atrium dimension 1 eft-right,right ventricutar anterior wall dimension at end-diastole,main pulmonary artery and right ventricular ejection fraction. Tissue doppler echocardiographic measured the tricuspid valve annular peak systolic velocity(Sm),peak early diastolic velocity (Em).peak late diastolic velocity (Am),isovolumic contraction time(IVCT),isovolumic relaxation time(IVRT), ejection time(ET), isovolumic contraction velocity (IVCV), isovolumic acceleration time(IVAT). Right ventricular Tei index,Em/Am and isovolumic accderation(IVA) were Calculated from the equation Tei index= IVCT+IVRT/ ET,IVA=IVCV/IVAT. Results 1.There were no significant differences in right atrial, right ventricular diameter, right ventricular wall thickness, E,A,E/A,pulmonary artery systolic pressure in SLE group compared with normal group (P>0.05).There were significant differences of Sm,Em, Em/Am, right ventricular Tei index and IVA between SLE group and normal group(P<0.05).2.There were significant differences of right atrial, right ventricular diameter, right ventricular wall thickness, pulmonary artery systolic pressure,Sm, Em, Em/Am, right ventricular Tei index and IVA between SLE group combined PH and SLE group without PH (P<0.05).Conclusions The tricuspid valve annular velocity,right ventricular Tei index and IVA derived by TDI are more sensitive and earlier to detect impairment of the right ventrieular function in the patients with SLE.
