BackgroundThe Dysphgia is a common complication in those who had strokes. It can cause insufficient nutrition absorption; give rise to aspiration pneumonia even suffocation; causing treatment costs rising dramatically. It also affects patients' diets and speech though the symptoms are mild. There is 29%~64 % of the strokes has the Dysphgia. With recent development of research, it has made clear that there are some curative effects on the patients who were treated by both acupuncture and rehabilitation therapy. However, there is no unified index of efficacy evaluation. Therefore, the study of how to combine the traditional-western medicine with the curative effect evaluation index will be helpful to promote this treatment method.ObjectiveBy using the cane rank 7 evaluation methods that are related to recovery measures, evaluating the safety and efficacy between simple rehabilitation treatment and the acupuncture combined for stroke rehabilitation swallow disability, in order to provide basis to study and further research the clinical efficacy and possible mechanism for which are Dysphgia after stroke being treated by acupuncture.MethodsFor research purposes, a simple randomized method is used. According to the chronological sequence of being admitted in hospital, patients that met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into treatment group and control group. Both groups followed the therapeutic schedules. The patients were being evaluated the clinical curative effectiveness by cane rank 7 evaluation methods at two points-before treatment and 3 weeks after treatment; in the meantime, any adverse reactions are being recorded. Using the SPSS15 to manage; calculating and analyzing data by using the T-test, chi-square, rank and inspection.Results(1)There are total 70 cases in this research.35 of the cases are chosen for the treatment group, the other 35 are in the control group. There was no shedding or deaths in either group. The before-treatment and after-treatment results were compared against each other. In treatment group it shows the data as below:51.4% showed noticeably improvement, while 34.2% showed improvement, and 11.4% showed slight improvement. The effectiveness rate is 97.1%. In control group, it manifest that markedly improvement is 28.6%; the better one is 40%; and the slight one is 25.7%. The total effectiveness rate is 91.4%. The results have been checked by rank and inspection:P>0.05 (chart 8) Thus, we conclude that both treatments are useful and effective treatment for the Dysphgia.(2)Nevertheless there are still significant differences between two groups. As the above data indicates, the results for treatment group are better than the control group.(3)According to the focus classification, there is significant different curative effect between before-treatment and after-treatment in brainstem group. Similar results can be found in cortex group. It is also said that there was nothing statistically difference with two treatment methods in brainstem group. However, it is on the contrary side in the cortex group. In the process of research, there is no adverse event except two people had the subcutaneous ecchymosed after acupuncture...
