Purpose:To study and analysis the factors related to intraocular Pressure (IOP) measurements of Bai minority population who were aged 50 years and older in Dali city of Yunnan province.MethodsFrom 2010 January to 2010 February, Cluster sampling was used in randomly selecting individuals aged= 50 years in 12 of 60 spots in Dali bai prefecture (Each spot has about 1,000 people), randomly 2742 subjects 50 years old and above in Dali selected from a general population using a random sampling method were assessed in cross-section, but only 2133 people participate in the vision, intraocular pressure and eye ministry survey, Presenting visual acuity was measured by ETDRS(early treatment diabetic retinopathy study) tumbling chart which measure the life the best corrected visual acuity, and the IOP was measured with a TONO-PEN, and CCT was measured with a specular microscope. The relationships between age, sex, Ocular axial length, CCT and IOP were assessed using correlation analyses. ophthalmologists check up the eye, anterior chamber, crystal and fundus and intraocular pressure, central corneal thickness, anterior chamber depth, someone elect into glaucoma grate when intraocular pressure> 21mmHg.ResultsIn this study, randomly 2742 subjects 50 years old and above in Dali selected from a general population, here were 2133 participants examined in the baseline study, 769 was male,1364 was female. The response rate was 77.7%.The mean age of the participants at baseline was 64.48 years (SD; range,50-91) and 63.9%were women. It's a positively skewness distribution map,The mean IOP value was 14.70±3.44mmHg in men and 14.44±3.31 standard deviation is 3.35 mmHg, the minimum value is 7 mmHg, maximum is 25 mmHg, it's a positively normal distribution. The results of statistical analysis of correlation is:There was no inverse correlation seen between IOP and age in Dali Bai people over the age of 50 (r=-0.003, P=0.849), but both genders had positive correlations between CCT and IOP(r=0.118, P<0.001). In multivariate analyses, CCT was shown to have an effect on IOP measurement. But we found there was no statistically significant difference in myopia and IOP results in the five vision groups.ConclusionsIn Dali Bai people over the age of 50, there was no inverse correlation between IOP and age, sex, Ocular axial length. And CCT variation has practically effect on the unique age-IOP relationship. IOP was increased with the CCT Increases, and independent with myopia. CCT is an important influence for IOP testing, CCT can help more about correctly estimated IOP, it is an important factor in clinical disease identification.
