Objective:To develop a Chinese version scale of quality of life (QOL) instrument which can be used to appraise the quality of life for patients with bronchial asthma, and evaluate the reliability, validity and responsibility. To explore the influence factors of asthma patients'QOL, in order to provide the reference of therapy. Methods:Based on the QLICD-BA common modules and specific modules, we conducted literature search, related literature, one on one interview and focus group, adopted systematic decision making process to develop the instruments. Chinese version's SF-36 was developed by translation and back-translation and cultural adaptation. The validity, reliability and responsibility of the questionnaire were evaluated by a survey of QOL among 100 patients with bronchial asthma. The statistical methods used in this study included statistical descriptions, pearson linear correlation, paired-samples t test, exploratory factor analysis, one-way ANOVA, multiple liner regression.Results:(1) Developed a QLICD-BA including the common module (QLICD-GM) of 36 items and bronchial asthma specific module (QLICD-SPD) of 17 items.(2) Evaluated QLICD-BA.The results showed test-retest reliability was good except physical function and specific module., internal consistent reliability and split-half reliability was good; Regression and factor analysis showed good construct validity; post-treatment fields (except social security) showed statistic significance; improvement of quality of life showed pre- and post- treatment. (3) About 15~20 minutes were spent in completing the instrument and the completed rate over 96.3% demonstrated that good feasibility of the instrument.(4) The multiple liner regression analysis of influence factors of QOL showed that sex, age, nation, marriage, occupation, education, economy, medical format, treat affect different domains of QOL of asthma. Conclusion:The QLICD-BA was valid, reliable, sensitive and could be used to assess quality of life for patients with asthma. The Quality of life scores did not have the close linear correlation with objective items. The influence factors of patients'Quality of life were sex, age, nation, marriage, occupation, education, economy, medical format, treat. However, there were still other influence factors.
