Objectives:To assess the sleep quality and negative emotion in-patients with Stroke.To explore the sleep quality, the negative emotion and the Coping styles in-patients with Stroke.To probe into the relative factors of the sleep quality and negative emotion in-patients with Stroke.To provide scientific basis for improveing sleep quality of hospitalized patients with Stroke.Object and Method:This study is descriptive, selecting 180 hospitalized patients with Stroke from one hospital of traditional Chinese medicine during October 2009 to September 2010. The method of questionnaire was used to collect data. There are five parts of the questinnaires. The first is about the common status of the demography and the disease material, the demography including gender, age, cultural degree, marital status and so on, the disease material including the number and the properties of Stroke, whether have coronary heart disease and so on.The second including Pittsburgh sleep quality index( PSQI ) which was adopted to measure the sleep quality after Stroke and to evaluate retrospectively the sleep quality before Stroke. The third is the scale of AHA Stroke Outcome Classification(AHA.SOC).The fourth is the scale of irritability, anxiety and depression (IDA) which was used to assess the negative emotion after Stroke.Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire(MCMQ) which was used to assess the coping styles after Stroke is the last part. SPSS 13.0 package was conducted to entry and analyze. The data was analyzed by t-test , signed-ranks test , chi-square test , variance analysis and multilple linear regression analysis .Results:1 Among the 180 Stroke cases, the PSQI scores after Stroke(11.07±4.297) is higher than that before Stroke(6.89±4.208),there was statistic difference by t-test (P<0.01). The sleep disorder after Stroke has 149 cases(82.8%)whose PSQI scores were over 7,which is higher than that 86 cases(47.8%) before Stroke, there was statistic difference by chi-square test (P<0.01).2 Among the 180 Stroke cases,the PSQI scores before Stroke , that of the male is less than the female(P<0.01);That of the marriage group is less than the widowed/divorced group(P<0.01);That of the patients with CHD is higher than others(P<0.01);the patients of≥71 ages group has the highest scores, the patients of≤60 ages group is less than the 61-70 ages group (P<0.01); That of the patients with the history of Stroke is higher than the patients without the history of Stroke(P<0.01).3 Among the 180 Stroke cases,the PSQI scores after Stroke ,that of the marriage group is less than the widowed/divorced group(P<0.01); the higher the horizontal classification function, the PSQI scores after Stroke is higher(P<0.05); That of the with CHD is higher than others(P<0.01);that of the patients from junior college and above was lowest, that of the patients from high school/specialized secondary schools took the second place, that of the junior school was highest(P<0.05).4 Among the 180 Stroke cases,the total scores of negative emotion is 15.15±9.078, that of the male(5.13±3.303) is less than that of the female(6.16±3.077), there was statistic difference by t-test(P<0.05); the scores of the introverted personality(18.53±9.627) is highest, that of the extroverted(13.35±9.034) was lowest(P<0.05); The cerebral hemorrhage patients is higher than the cerebralinfarction patients(P<0.05); the higher the horizontal classification function, the scores of negative emotion after Stroke is higher, there was statistic difference (P<0.01). The scores of the post-stroke PSQI , the avoid and yield coping were all positively correlated with it (P<0.01).5 According to the results of multilple linear regression analysis , the negative emotion is associated with the PSQI scores post-stroke,functional status and character,the standardized regression coefficient is respectively 0.363,0.307and -0.166. It implied that the PSQI scores post-stroke,functional status is the positive role on the negative emotion,and character is the negative predicator.6 According to the results of multilple linear regression analysis , the PSQI scores before Stroke is associated with gender, age; The PSQI scores post-stroke is associated with age , functional statusand the sleep quality before Stroke, the standardized regression coefficient is respectively 0.246,0.667 and -0.158. It implied that the PSQI scores before stroke,functional status is the positive role on the the PSQI scores post-stroke, and age is the negative predicator.Conclusions:1 The sleep quality post-stroke is declined generally;The sleep quality post-stroke is associated with functional status,the sleep quality before Stroke and age;The more serious the negative emotion, the yield coping were used more often, the sleep quality post-stroke was poorer..It implied that the nurses should take many specific nursing interventions to improve the patients' sleep quality.2 The negative emotion is ;There were some factors that could affect the negative emotion such as the sleep quality post-stroke,functional status and character;The poorer the sleep quality post-stroke,the avoid and yield coping were used more often, the negative emotion is more serious.To improve the patients' negative emotion,we should take some measures to intervene in the main factors Primarily.
