Objective: To investigation the prevalence and clinical characteristics of sleep disorder in Parkinson's disease(PD) patients, and analyse the potential risk factors associated with the sleep disorder. Methods: Ninety-seven patients with PD were evaluated by the Mini Mental State Exam(MMSE) score, Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scal(UPDRS), Hoehn & Yahr stage, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI), Epworth Sleepiness scal(ESS), Hamilton Depression Scale for depression(HAMD). Eeighty-seven old people without Parkinson's disease were evaluated by MMSE and PSQI. Diagnosis of Parkinson's disease based on the diagnostic criteria of PD and imaging results. Depending on the PSQI ratings, the patients are divided into PD sleep disorders group, PD without sleep disorders group, and the probable promoting factors for sleep disturbances were analyzed by univariate analysis and multinomial logistic regression analysis. Results:(1) The sleep disorders were observed 57 of 97 (58.76%) in PD patients compared with 11 of 87 (12.64%) controls (P<0.05), there are no significant difference in sex and age of two group, and excessive daytime sleepiness, fragmented sleep, waking early, nightmares, restless legs syndrome have difference of statistics (P<0.05). (2) The most common type of sleep disorders is excessive daytime sleepiness, waking early, nightmares, restless legs syndrome, fragmented sleep etc. (3)The univariate analysis shows Hoehn-Yahr stage, HAMD score, use of piribedil in PD patients were evaluated difference(P<0.05); Logistic regression analysis showed that Hoehn-Yahr stage Wald values were 6.384. (4) Use of anti-Parkinson's disease (PD) drugs in 88 of 97(90.7%) PD patients over six months. The others didn't use anti-PD drugs; the high usage of Piribedil was observed in 27 of 57(47.4%), it is apparently higher than controls (P<0.05).Conclusion : 1. Sleep disorder with PD patients has higher prevalence(58.76%). 2. The most common type of sleep disorder with PD patients is excessive daytime sleepiness, waking early, nightmares, restless legs syndrome, etc. 3. Hoehn-Yahr stage, depression score, use of piribedil have important influence to the PD with sleep disorder.
