ObjectiveAnatomical measurement of the thickness of maxillary and mandibular bone plate by using the high resolution Micro CT. Through studying the distance between the apex and cortical bone and building anatomical data base to provide the oretical basis for stomatologists.The consequence would decline the complications during and after the surgery for promoting the oral implant. We will observe the effection of imagines coming out by Micro CT to judge the value of Micro CT in the field of oral basic and clinic researches.Test Method and Processa) Material The specimen is maxillary and mandibular bone keeping all compositions of tooth and bone completely with no pathologic absorption.All the speci-mens were immersed in formalin. There were not any anatomical structure destroyed during the research and relative process was finished by same staff.b) Method Using Micro CT (Skyscan1072,SKYSCAN,Antwerpen, Belgium) scanned the mandibular and maxillary bone from the neck to apex with distance 14um .The gotten imagines were rebuilt to 3D (three dimensional imagine)using software of reverse engineering (Minics).Resultsa) In the anterior tooth of maxilla, all of the distance between the root apex to the outer surface of the buccal cortical plate except the palatine teeth of first premolar are less than 3mm,especially the incisor and canine teeth, less than 2mm. In the molar tooth of maxilla, the distances between the root apexes of palatine teeth to the outer surface of the palatal cortical plate are obviously less than to the outer surface of the buccal cortical plate. So we are supposed to consider more about through palatal side in the endodontic surgery. The distance are increasing progressively front the anterior tooth to the molar tooth. The thinnest distance is 1.08 mm in the first premolar of women, and the largest distance is 5.76 mm in the fused tooth of the second molar.b) In the mandibular, generally speaking, the distances between the root apex to the outer surface of the buccal cortical plate are larger than maxilla. In the anterior tooth, the distances to the outer surface of the buccal cortical plate are between 1.53mm and 2.98mm. In the molar tooth, the distances between the only lingual root apex belonged to first molar to the outer surface of the buccal cortical plate are larger than other buccal root apex,7.91mm(male)和7.43mm (female).Women have thicker buccal bone plate than men, however, the two have no significant difference.c) The imagine effects of Micro CT is accurate, clear and easy to measure. The application of three dimensional technology to anatomical research will have a prosperous future and make great use for stomatologist.Conclusiona) Several parameters of micro CT showed effective aspects on the bone change. Micro CT is really a valuable method of quick, accurate and no damage in the speci-men.b) The result and the data base provided in this paper would give more valuable information to stomatologists. The direct consequence will improve the success rate of implant and decrease the incidence rate of complications during and after the surgery.
