To evaluate the clinical application of 64-slice spiral CT and image post processing in the study of laryngeal and laryngopharygeal diseases.75 patients with diseases of larynx or laryngopharynx proved by pathology were scanned by 64-slice spiral CT. All source data were postprocessed at workstation using MPR and CTVL.The images were viewed in axial scans and on MPR and CTVL, and compared with operation and pathology.Data of these Patients were analyzed by SAS 9.1 software.1 There was no significant difference in the accuracy of T-staging between CT and operation.2 MPR could clearly display structure of the larynx and extension of carcinoma from multiple views, combined with axial images. It is the fundmental image post-processing technique of helical CT,and is a good complementary technique to axial images.3 Image quality of CTVL was related to the size and extension of lesions.when the lesion was small and there was no airway striction, image quality was fine.when there was airway striction caused by infiltration of tumor, image quality decreased markedly.4 Statistic analysis revealed that the location, verge of lesion, invasion of paraglottic space or preepiglottic space and CT enhancement degree had significant difference in predicting the malignancy.Several image post-processing techniques of 64-slice spiral CT were useful in the diagnosis of laryngeal and laryngopharygeal diseases.
