Objective:To investigate the risk factors of cerebral palsy. Reduce the incidence of cerebral palsy and disabilityMethods:Subjects: A case-control association study was conducted in 51 children with CP,and 102 children without cerebral palsy or neurological diseases, recruited at Center for treatment of cerebral palsy rehabilitation of the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University, from June to December, 2009. 1:2 ratio of hospital-based case-control study and conditional Logistic regression analysis were performed.Survey Methods:All participants were investigated with self made questionnaire, investigators were unified training physicians. through access to medical records and ask children to the mother or the father complete the survey. The survey was completed by means of interview combining consulting case history and consulting their parents.Statistical analysis: All clinical data were collected and stored by Epi Data 3.0. SPSS 13.0 software was applied to deal with all data. The statistical methods included independent samples t test, Univariate Logistic regression , multiple logistic regression, and Conditional logistic regression. Age, birth weight, gestational age at birth of case and control groups were used to screen risk factors for cerebral palsy. The significance level is 0.05.Results:1.The results indicated that the mean gestational age of 51 CP patients was 36.31±4.16 weeks, the mean birth weight was 2.793±0.795 kg,both lower than the control group, whose mean gestational age was 38.34±1.63 weeks, the mean birth weight was 3.151±0.453 kg, the difference was significant (p <0.05).2.Among 51 cerebral palsy cases we investigated, spastic type was 72.5%,athetotic type was 11.8%, myotonic type was 15.7%.3.Analysis of Cranial CT/MRI Scanning in 51 CP Children Cases, periventricular lucency was 19.6%, diffuse cerebral dysplasia was 49.0%, atrophic congenital cerebral dysplasia was 31.4%.4.Expectant mothers over 32 years are called older expectant mother. The mean eproductive age of mothers of cases was 27.25±5.355 years, and the mean eproductive age of mothers of controls was 28.47±6.534 years; 17.6%(9/51)cases and 3.9%(4/102)controls have similar familial history deases such as epilepsy, cerebral palsy and mental retardation. 25.5%(13/51)cases'mothers and 4.9%(5/102)controls'mothers have repeated vaginal bleeding during gestation. 39.2%(20/51)cases and 8.8%(9/102)controls were premature birth children, whose pregnancy time was 28-37 weeks. 25.5%(13/51)cases and 4.9%(5/102)controls were low birth weight children, whose birth weight was less than 2500g; 35.3%(18/51) cases and 4.9%(5/102)controls were of neonatal asphyxia; 27.5%(14/51)cases and 6.9%(7/102)controls were of kernicterus; 17.6%(9/51)cases and 3.9%(4/102) controls were of intracranial hemorrhage. Conclusion:Our study indicated that antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum many factors were associated with cerebral palsy, especially premature birth, actively prevent and eliminate every risk factors, could degrade the incidence of cerebral palsy.
