| Objective:To investigate the quality of life (QOL) on infertile patients; explore the relation between psychosocial factors such as personality, social support, coping style, alexithymia. And to develop appropriate psychological interventions for clinical experiments. The effects of the psychological interventions on QOL were to be verified through clinical experiments in order to determine whether or not these treatments can improve QOL of infertile patients.Methods:162 infertile patients and 110 fertile persons were investigated with Short Form of 36 (SF-36), Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(EPQ), Trait Coping Style Questionnaire (TCSQ), Social Support Rating Scale (SSRS) and Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-26) respectively. And appropriate psychological interventions for clinical experiments were developed based on the data analysis. Then 130 cases of infertile patients from a single hospital were recruited at random to go on Psychological interventions and were devided into 2 groups:70 patients intervention group and 60 patients Non-intervention group. Patients in the Non-intervention group received routine treatment of conventional medications.Besides those in the intervention group accept a 3-month pychological interventions. After three months intervention, we evaluated the quality of life and treatment of the two groups. The raw data was put into computer and analyzed with the statistical methods of T-test, analysis of variance test (ANOVA), multiple correlation, multiple stepwise regression and path analysis using software of SPSS 16.0.Results:(1) The quality of life of infertile patients were worse than that of control group, and the quality of life was different between different groups of different gender, education level, living district, state of infertile and course. (2) QOL of the infertile patients was affected by psychosocial factors, the total score of QOL could be forecasted by negative coping style, factor-â… , Neuroticism and the availability of social support. (3) The total scores of the quality of life especially the mental health on infertile patients improved significantly. Compared with the non-intervention group, negative coping, factor-â… ,factor-â…¡in intervention group reduced, and support utilization improved significantly (4) The difference between the data of pre-treatment and post-treatment and the result of multiple stepwise regression analysis indicated that, improvement of the ability of distinguishing sensibility and physical feelings, the reduction of negative coping strategies and the improvement of support utilization are significantly correlated to the effect of interventions. The programs of psychological interventions have been proved to be effective and feasible. Conclusions:The QOL of infertile patients was low, patients'mental and physical health was influenced significantly. Personality, social support, coping style and alexithymia were all important psychological factors which could influence infertile patients' QOL. The psychological interventions could improve the QOL of infertile patients effectively and significantly, which was through improving ability of distinguishing emotions and physical feelings, reducing negative coping strategies and improving support utilization. The programs of psychological interventions have been proved to be effective and feasible. |
