Objective To assess the relevant factors that impact the vaccination rate of migrant children in Urumqi and provide evidences for immunization administration. Methods Six survey points were randomly selected in the city's migrant population area, and at each of them random household survey was taken on 1 to 4-year-old migrant children and resident children. A uniform questionnaire was designed and statistical analysis software was used for the statistical analysis. Results Survey of 664 children aged 1 to 4, including 357 males(53.77%) and 307 female(46.23%); 323 children in permanent residence(48.64%) and 341 migrant children(51.36%); 186 migrant children from other provinces(54.55%) and 155 migrant children in the province(45.45%). Vaccination rates of five kinds of vaccine(HBV. BCG. OPV. DTP. MV) on migrant children were 80.65%,82.41%,81.23%,77.42%,78.01% and 76.54%. They were lower than vaccination rates on resident children, which were 98.76%,98.45%,99.38%,98.45%,98.14% and 96.59%. The rate of vaccination certificate among migrant children(87.10%) was much lower than that in resident children(99.69%). Both of them showed significant difference on the statistical significance (P<0.0001).Conclusions The immunization and vaccination certificate rates of migrant children were low in Urumqi City, especially in ethnic minority and migrant children from other provinces. It was important to eliminate the relevant factors that influnce children's immunization rate by using various forms of publicity and carrying out effective disease surveillance and health supervision. The current knowledge of children's immunization awareness and vaccination rates should be effectively improved. The gap of immune in the city's migrant population area should be eliminated to reduce the incedence of infectious diseases.
