| Purpose: This issue through the establishment of alcohol free drinks chronic alcoholism peripheral nerve lesions (chronic alcoholic peripheral neuropathy, CAPN) model of peripheral neuropathy for Chronic alcoholism treatment mechanism for acupuncture treatment of chronic alcoholism peripheral neuropathy The clinic offers a new theory.Methods: Adult male Wistar rats 80, weight 220±30g, were randomly divided into 2 groups, 25 water control group, model group, 55 of chronic alcoholism free from 6,9,12% alcohol concentration of 5 days to After the maintenance of feeding 20%, respectively, in February, March, 4, 5 depicting the end of the two groups, measuring weight, pressure threshold obtained after the sciatic nerve electrophysiological examination and light microscopy, electron microscopy of sciatic nerve pathological and ultrastructural changes, then the model was successful rats were randomly divided into model group, methylcobalamin group, EA group, common acupuncture group. The use of electric physiology, pathology, immunohistochemistry,ELISA and other technical means to observe the electro-acupuncture treatment of peripheral neuropathy on alcoholism body weight, pressure threshold, nerve conduction velocity, sciatic nerve and sciatic nerve pathological NGF expression.Results: (1) The increase of body weight in model group was obviously slower than that in control group.(2)The pressure pain threshold in model group was significantly highter than that in control group after the end of three month (P<0.05).(3) Electrophysiologically the model group rat showed slow motor conduction velocity (MCV) by the end of four month, compaired with control group(P<0.01).(4) HE stain of sciatic nerve of the rat at fouth month end in light microscope showed axonal degeneration accompany with secondary segmental demyelination, but the structure of ganglia showed non apparent abnormality.(5) Electroacupuncture treatment can improve the pressure pain threshold and the nerve conductive velocity,reduce the changes of pathological morphology and ultrastructure in sciatic nerve and increase the expression of NGF in sciatic nerve . Compared with methycobal-control group and acupuncture -treated group,the difference were significant (P<0.05).Conclusion:1,By increasing the concentration of free drink method can be successfully established chronic peripheral neuropathy in animal models of alcoholism.2, Electric acupuncture can improve CAPN sciatic nerve fiber demyelination and axonal atrophy, reducing the pathological nerve injury has a protective effect on the nerve.3,Electro-acupuncture therapy can raise the nerve growth factor of sciatic nerve expression on nerve lesion repair and nutrition play a role, thus improving the structure and function of peripheral nerves, chronic alcoholism peripheral neuropathy effective treatment can be widely used to treat peripheral neuropathy.
