Study On Correlation Between Star Excursion Balance Test And Win-pod Balance Test

Objectives:This experiment was based on the results of previous studies, comparative analysis Physical Education and Human movement science students'lower limbs strength,balance function and postural control ability from the points of biomechanical and physical fitness. The purpose was to find out the differences of these three respects between these two groups, attempt to explore the influence of sports on those three points, to study correlations between Star Excursion Balance test and Win-pod balance test, to discuss whether Star Excursion Balance test can accurately reflect human's balance function and provide certain theoretical help for the development of simple balance function test methods.Methods:The study was carried out in a population based sample (n=257) of Shanghai University of Sports students. This study included two groups, Physical education group (145boys,36girls) and Human movement group(52boys,24girls) The simple balance and the Win-pod balance test are made. The lower functional stretch'original data were collected by the Star Excursion Balance test; the balance functional original data were collected by the Win-pod. Finally we use the Statistical Package for Social Sciences for Windows 15.0 analyzed all the data.Results:1 Results of the Star Excursion Balance test and the lower limbs strength test:The result shows that there is significant difference of lower limbs strength between Physical education students and Non physical education students (p<0.05); there is more significant difference of Star Excursion Balance test between different major (p<0.01) except of northeast result; there is more significant difference of Star Excursion Balance test and lower limbs strength between male and female (p<0.01) except northeast and north results; there is significant difference of the north result between male and female (p<0.05); generally speaking, results of the Star Excursion Balance test and lower limbs strength of males or Physical education students are better than of female or Non physical education students.2 Results of the Win-pod Balance test:based on the results of different majors, the results of length,area,X,Y speed and Y deviation of Physical education students are smaller than of non physical education students and there is significant difference between them(p<0.01), the X deviation of Physical education students is bigger than the other group but did not have significant difference, there is significant difference of LFA between two groups in open eyes test(p<0.05), there is significant difference of LFA between two groups in closed eyes test(p<0.01); Based on the results of different gender, there is significant difference of Y deviation between male students and female students in open eyes test (p<0.05), the results of the LFA and Y speed of boys are bigger than girls in open eyes test, the results of the length,area,X speed and X deviation of girls in open eyes test are bigger than boys, but those results did not have significant difference between boys and girls, there is significant difference of Y speed between male students and female students in closed eyes test (p<0.01), there is significant difference of Y deviation between male students and female students (p<0.05),the results of the length,area LFA and Y speed of boys are smaller than girls in closed eyes test, the results of the X speed,X deviation of girls in closed eyes test are bigger than boys, but those results did not have significant difference between boys and girls,3 Results of the correlation analysis:based on the results of open eyes test, generally speaking, LFA,area and X deviation did not have correlation with the results of the star excursion balance test, the other indexes of Win-pod balance test have irregular correlation with the results of the star excursion balance test, from the results of all students, we find that the west has a notable significance with length (p<0.05), the west has a notable significance with Y speed (p<0.05), the east has a notable significance with length (p<0.05), based on the results of closed eyes test, from the results of all students, we find that the north has a notable significance with length and X,Y speed (p<0.05), the northwest has a notable significance with Y deviation(p<0.05), the west has a notable significance with X,Y speed, the east south has a notable significance with X speed and Y deviation(p<0.05), the east has a notable significance with X speed and length and LFA;the northeast has a notable significance with length,and X,Y speed(p<0.05), the west south and the south did not have any significance with any result of the star excursion balance test, we also could find that the other indexes of Win-pod did not have notable significance with the result of the star excursion balance test.Conclusions:1 It concludes that Star Excursion Balance test and lower limbs strength test display various major change tendency and significant gender difference. The Star Excursion Balance test is able to effectively reflect the change of balance functions during majoring and the gender difference.2 Regardless of taking the Win-pod balance test results of open eyes or the closed as the comprehensive appraisal reflection of balance function, it did not display various major change tendency and significant gender difference. We should make a further study to select the most sensitive index to reflect the postural control ability.3 Star Excursion Balance test did not display a good data correlation with Win-pod balance test results. But length and Y speed of Win-pod balance test results display a data correlation with the Star Excursion Balance test.
