Objective: To investigate the influence of cytokines correlating to Th1/Th2 cells on therapeutic effect of Adefovir dipivoxil(ADV) for chronic hepatitis B patients. Methods: The outpatients who underwent adefovir dipivoxil treatment at the first affiliated hospital of Guangxi Medical University from October 2008 to August 2010 were select to be the study subjects. According to the different therapeutic effect, the subjects were divided into two groups:the efficacious and the inefficacious group; otherwise, selecting 50 healthy persons as control group. The concentration of IFN-γ,IL-4 cytokines correlating to Th1/Th2 in the subject serum were detected by the double antibody sandwich enzyme linked immununosorb- en assay(ELISA).Results:①The results showed that the IFN-γ,IL-4 mean concentration of the efficacious group, inefficacious group and the healthy control group was 43.90±14.73 pg/ml , 13.39±6.19 pg/ml , 10.83±9.34 pg/ml and 6.24±5.95pg/ml , 10.50±11.68 pg / ml ,4.86±3.62 pg /ml respectively.②The IFN-γmean concentration of the efficacious group was significantly higher than the inefficacious group and the healthy control(p﹤0.05),but was seen no significan difference between the inefficacious and healthy control group (p﹤0.05)③The IL-4 mean concentration of the inefficacious group was significanly higher than the efficacious and the healthy control group (p﹤0.05),but no significan difference was seen between the efficacious and healthy control group (p﹥0.05).④The IFN-γmean concentration of the efficacious group was significantly higher than the inefficacious group(p﹤0.05),but The IL-4 mean concentration was lower than the inefficacious group(p﹤0.05).Conclusion:①The antiviral effect of ADV treatments may have relevant to the Th1, Th2 cytokines, and the inefficacious treatment of ADV may due to Th1/Th2 imbalance.②Adefovir dipivoxil may have enhanced the antihepatitis B virus immune response.
