Expression And Significance Of ADAM 10, 15 In Tongue Squamous Cell Carcinomas

Objective:To investigate the expression of ADAM 10,15 in tongue squamous cell carcinomas and to explore its correlation with clinical behavior and pathological characters, and to explain the relationship between the expression of these two proteins and metastasis as well as its clinical significance in TSCC.Methods:Forty nine patients with TSCC were collected during Mar 2006 and Mar 2009 in the Department of Stomatology, the College of Stomatology Guangxi Medical University. The information of the patients was collected and the pathological results were confirmed. All the subjects were divided into two groups, one group without metastasis (n=23), and the other group with lymph node metastasis (n=26). Immunohistochemistry method of streptavidin avidin-peroxidase (S-P) was conducted to detect the expression of AD AM10,15 in the tongue tissue of the subjects. The relationship between the expression of these two proteins and metastasis as well as its clinical significance in TSCC was analyzed. SPSS 17.0 was applied for the analysis of the data. Comparison among groups was implemented by Mann-Whitney Test analysis. The confidence lever was 95%. Results:The investigation of 49 specimens indicated that the expression of ADAM10,ADAM 15 protein was localized in the cytoplasm and membrane,â‘ The expression of ADAM10 was[(-)14,(+)6,(++)2,(+++)1]in the group without metastasis and the group with lymph node metastasis was [(-)9,(+)2,(++)7,(+++)8].â‘¡The expression of ADAM15 was [(-)16,(+)4,(++)2,(+++)1]in the group without metastasis and 26 cases[(-)11,(+)2,(++)7,(+++)6]in the group with lymph node metastasis.The expression of ADAM 10,15 is significantly higher in the group with lymph node metastasis(P=0.008,P=0.018ï¼›P<0.05).However,the correlation between the expression of ADAM 10,ADAM 15 and age,sex,grade of histology,clinical stage,size of tumor separately is not significant according to this study(P>0.05).Conclusion:The expressions of ADAM 10,15 in TSCC is related to cervical lymph node metastasis.The expression of ADAM10,15 is higher in subjects with cervical lymphonde metastasis than those without lymph node metastasis.No correlation between the expression of ADAM10,ADAM 15 and age,sex,grade of histology,clinical stage,size of tumor separately was found.
