| Objective:Explore the causes of complications and the prevention measures of ventriculo-peritoneal shunt in patients with hydrocephalus, to enhance the level of ventriculo-peritoneal shunt treatment and reduce complications. Methods:Retrospective analysis of the postoperative clinical data of 185 patients with hydrocephalus underwent ventriculo-peritoneal shunt in our hospital from April,2005 to September 2010, and analyze the reasons for its complications and prevention. Results:Postoperative complications occurred in 43 cases (23.24%), of which there are 2 cases of death (1.08%),15 cases of triage system obstruction (8.11%),Ventricularend ofobstructionin 11 cases,3 cases of peritoneal obstruction, shuntvalve obstructionin 1 case; 17 cases of shunt infection (9.19%);4 cases of excessive drainage (2.16%);2 cases of parenchymal hemorrhage (1.08%); 6 cases of epilepsy (3.24%);5 cases of shunt exposed (2.70%);2 cases of blindness (1.08%);1 case of shunt in ectopic into the hernia sac;1 case of herniated into the scrotum. The rate of hospital complication was 9.72%,1 year after surgery was 10.81%,2 years, after surgery was 14.59%.Conclusion:ventriculo-peritoneal shunt complication rate was relatively higher, which was related with the surgery itself and the type of hydrocephalus. The effective measurements of reducing the postoperative complications are strict surgical indications, improvement of skills in surgical operation, selection of the appropriate pressure shunt devices and effective treatment after surgery. |
