Objective:To study the distribution feature of TCM syndrome in CKD 3 by cluster analysis in order to provide the evidence of TCM syndrome differentiation types of CKD and guide clinical treatment. Methods:Selecting CKD 3 phase patients on site investigation. Observing general patient data, symptoms, signs, tongue picture and pulse condition to research the distribution of TCM syndrome by Hierarchical Cluster Analysis. Results:There are 84 cases selected for this study. Lassitude(59.5%) is the most common symptom in CKD 3 phase. There are other symptoms as follows, such as soreness of waist and knees(53.6%), dropsy(50.0%), dry mouth and throat(47.6%) or anorexia (41.7%). The types of symptoms include deficiency of spleen qi with evil wetness, deficiency of yang, deficiency of yin and deficiency of kidney qi. Insufficiency of both spleen yang and kidney yang with evil wetness is the major syndrome in excess in sthenia syndrome. As follows, there are other syndromes, such as declination of both spleen and kidney qi with evil dampness and blood stasis, declination of both yin and yang with evil wetness, declination of both qi and yin with evil dampness and deficiency of yin and damp heat. Conclusion:TCM syndrome belongs to deficiency in origin and excess in sthenia syndrome in CKD 3 phase. During the course of this disease, simultaneous impairments of spleen and kidney are obvious. The feature of TCM syndromes of CKD3 is a mixture of asthenia and sthenia. The syndrome which is insufficiency of both spleen yang and kidney yang or declination of both spleen and kidney qi is dominant in deficiency in origin syndrome. Evil wetness is the most common pathologic factor in excess in superficiality syndrome.
