Objective:To treat vascular dementia with the syndrome of yangming blood amassment by the method of regulating and tonifying the spleen and stomach and promoting blood circulation with added taohechengqi decoction and to observe the clinical effect.So as to verify the clinical feasibility of treating vascular dementia from blood amassment of yangming and to probe the mechanism of dementia caused by the yangming disease. Explore new ideas and methods of Chinese medicine treatment of vascular dementia.Methods:60 patients were chosen according to inclusive criteria and divided randomly into treatment group and control group. The treatment group were given added taohechengqi decoction, while the control group took 20mg Nimodipine Tablets three times a day. Four-week is designated as a course of treatment. Then to evaluate the clinical effect and test the integral of MMSE,ADL,BBS after three courses of treatment.Results: The total effective rate is 86.7% in treatment group and 60% in control group and the statistical analysis showed that clinical total effective of the treatment group was better than the control group (Rtreatment=0.3709, Rcontrol=0.6012).Meanwhile the treatment group can improve clinical symptoms and the integral of MMSE,ADL,BBS.Conclusion: The added taohe chengqi decoction with the effect of regulating and tonifying the spleen and stomach and promoting blood circulation to remove the stasis can relif the clinical symptoms effectually and improve the capacity of daily life and social behavior. The method of regulating and tonifying the spleen and stomach and promoting blood circulation to remove the stasis has evident effects in curing VD.
