Objective:The method of regulating spleen and stomach and Huoxue Huatan, under the guidance of the tutor, is applied to for the treatment of vascular cognitive impairment of none dementia (VCIND) with deficiency of spleen and kidneys and phlegm and blood stasis, and the clinical effect is observed to determine the effectiveness of regulating spleen and stomach and Huoxue Huatan on this disease and to provide new perspectives on clinical treatment.Methods:60patients of vascular cognitive impairment of none dementia (VCIND) with deficiency of spleen and kidneys and phlegm and blood stasis are selected and randomly divided into the treatment group and control group. Each group consists of30patients and there are no statistical differences in terms of sex, age, educational background, etc. between the two groups. Patients in the treatment group are given the prescription of regulating spleen and stomach and Huoxue Huatan by decoction one dose a day while patients in the control groups take orally30mg of nimodipine tablets three times a day. Both groups are given two consecutive courses of treatment with each course lasting for three months. The effect of traditional Chinese medicine syndrome, the score of traditional Chinese medicine syndrome, Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MOC A), Activities of Daily Living(ADL)and safety indicators of patients in both groups are measured both before and after the treatment.Results:Measurements of the effect of traditional Chinese medicine syndrome, the score of traditional Chinese medicine syndrome, Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MOCA), Activities of Daily Living (ADL)indicate improvement on both groups after the treatment. Patients in the treatment group have improved more significantly on the four aspects than those in the control group (P<0.01). Besides, no anomaly in safety indicators is found for two groups.Conclusion:Regulating spleen and stomach and Huoxue Huatan is a safe and effective method of treating vascular cognitive impairment of none dementia (VCIND) deficiency of spleen and kidneys, phlegm and blood stasis in that it can significantly relieve the patients’symptoms, facilitate the recovery of cognitive abilities and improve activities of daily living.
